The woodland at Hartside provides an excellent woodland primarily made up of a mixture of deciduous & coniferous trees, primarily Citrus Spruce and Norman Fir. The wood is a mixture of Norway and citrus spruce. It is ready for harvesting. There is right of access to harvest the forestry Access requires the permission of the owner. In terms of approach to the wood, I'd recommend parking at the end of the dotted red line on the attached map and walking through the fields. There's an easy track which crosses a burn near the wood, The easiest way to get there is via the A68 and before you get to Oxton you turn right down a B road that takes you towards Hartside Farm.
